Jan is a proven healthcare attorney and advisor with extensive legal and healthcare operational experience. Jan’s prior experience as a member of the senior executive team of a regional healthcare system, her clinical background in nursing, and her over 35 years of experience as a healthcare attorney has given Jan a unique perspective and understanding of the inner workings of healthcare organizations and serves as the foundation for Jan’s expertise in helping healthcare organizations implement creative solutions to complex problems.
Jan has significant experience in working with boards of non-profit organizations, gained through her years of experience as General Counsel for a regional health system, through counseling and educating boards for the last 20 years, and through her many board member appointments for the Chicago Lighthouse, Gateway for Cancer Research, American Cancer Society, Kalamazoo chapter, among others. Jan is a frequent speaker nationally on a range of issues impacting hospitals and health systems, including board’s legal obligations and its role in compliance and driving the organization’s quality of care.
Jan is a graduate summa cum laude of University of Detroit Mercy (BS Nursing) and Michigan State University College of Law (JD). Jan also holds certifications from Cornell University in Executive Healthcare Management and Healthcare Change Management.
